Texas Instruments writes Bluetooth Smart SensorTag app for Android Features Eyes On Android

Texas Instruments has announced a Bluetooth Smart SensorTag app for Android. Android 4.3 “Jelly Bean” now has native support of Bluetooth Smart Ready.

It has been designed to work with TI’s CC2541-basedSensorTag, which has six commonly used sensors on a single board for evaluation and demos.

“The addition of Bluetooth Smart support in Android 4.3 is a huge growth opportunity for the market, making it possible for Bluetooth Smart appcessories to workwith all OSs,” said Suke Jawanda, chief marketing officer, Bluetooth SIG.

The SensorTag’s six integrated sensors include the TMP006 contactless IR temperature sensor, and there is a royalty-free BLE-Stack software which works with the SensorTag with firmware updates.

The SensorTag kit (CC2541DK-SENSOR) costs $25 and is available on the TI eStore and from distributors.
