SAN FRANCISCO—Programmable logic vendor Xilinx Inc. has opened an R&D center in Beijing and consolidated it along with local sales, marketing and application engineering operations into a single site, the company said Tuesday (Dec. 12).
Xilinx (San Jose, Calif.) said its 20,000-square-foot site in Beijing would support local, regional and multi-national customers. The R&D team in Beijing is focused on software-related design activities as part of the company's Programmable Platforms Development group, a global organization responsible for development and delivery of Xilinx flagship programmable platforms, Xilinx said.
Vincent Tong, Xilinx Senior vice president and leader of the company's Asia Pacific operations, said through a statement that China is working hard to become a global R&D hub as part of the country's current Five-Year-Plan. "We at Xilinx are similarly committed to our goal of being the primary innovation platform for Chinese electronics system designers," Tong said.
