Startup design services firm opens Hyderbad site


LONDON – SmartPlay Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a fast-growing chip, software and system design services company, has opened up a design center in Hyderabad, India.

SmartPlay (Bangalore, India) was founded in 2008 and has grown from 60 to more than 650 employees in three years and claims to have worked for "top-tier fabless semiconductor companies." The company already has design centers in Bangalore, Noida, San Jose and San Diego in California and Austin, Texas.

"This center will further strengthen our commitment to deliver world-class design solutions to our customers and anticipate a 100 percent growth in the coming year," said Vijay Mohan, vice president of SmartPlay, in a statement.

"In the last decade, the technology sector in Hyderabad has grown significantly – especially in the semiconductor and mobility space.  Accessibility to the right talent and proximity to our key customers including semiconductor companies and global OEMs has been the main reasons for our expansion into Hyderabad," said Pradeep Vajram, CEO of SmartPlay, in the same statement.

SmartPlay claims to have design expertise in SoCs, ASICs, FPGAs and at advanced technology nodes of 28-, 45- and 65-nm. Domain expertise includes wireless, networking processors and high-speed connectivity. SmartPlay also provides software and communications protocol support. In the area of mobile consumer devices SmartPlay has hardware, software, ID and test, and Android capabilities.

The company has successfully engaged with customers across the world and has executed projects in U.S., UK, Sweden, Korea, Malaysia, Japan, China and Taiwan.
